Highlighters

Highlighter is a multi use product that attracts light and enhances skin tone, for a lit-from-within look, and can be used to accentuate and lift bone structure whilst providing an healthy and flawless glow. From subtle radiance to serious shimmer, light-reflecting makeup products have the ability to brighten up dull complexions, give skin a healthy glow and enhance natural features.

Highlighters are light-reflecting products, available in liquid, cream and powder form. They enhance your complexion and give skin a brighter, dewy glow as well as making cheekbones look more prominent, when placed on top of the cheekbone. By applying a highlighter underneath the foundation, you'll create a base for your glow. Focus on the high points of your face like your Cupid's bow, the bridge and tip of your nose, top of your cheekbones, brow bone, forehead, chin and anywhere else you'd like to add volume.

Applying liquid highlighter before foundation can create all-over luminosity, while applying it afterward can help create a more defined, targeted glow. You can even mix a few drops of your liquid highlighter into your foundation to sheer it out and give it a more luminous finish.

As a rule of thumb it is better to choose a highlighter that is a shade or two lighter than your natural skin tone to give it that light and bright effect, without looking false. It is also important that the undertone of the highlighter is the same as your skintype. Cooler skin tones need a pink, blue or red undertone, whilst those with a warmer skin tone need a brown, orange or yellow base. If you want to look even more glamourous and achieve a maximum glow, then use a highlighter both under and over your foundation.

scentu stocks highlighters from Delilah Cosmetics, Guerlain and Jane Iredale.
