La Roche Posay Skin Treatments for Sensitive Skin
La Roche-Posay is the Dermatolgist backed skincare system derived from the famous La Roche-Possay Spa Town whose history goes back to the Middle Ages. Recognised as being of public interest in 1897 and having become the first European thermal spa to be exclusively dedicated to skin disorders, the dermatological mission of La Roche-Posay, which has existed for 5 centuries, is based on a unique and internationally recognised expertise and know-how.
La Roche-Posay contains beautiful thermal springs, distinguished by their thermal activity and housed within the Connectable thermal baths that opened in 1932. Today, La Roche-Posay is Europe's leading spa for skin diseases and welcomes around 7500 people per year. This is because the La Roche-Posay thermal water (present in all their skincare creations) is a true marvel of nature with proven therapeutic properties.
By decree of the Council of State of the 3rd of August 2018, the thermal resource of La Roche-Posay has been declared of public interest. The protection of this precious resource now has a regulatory framework that ensures its durability and the safeguarding of its therapeutic virtues. Every year, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Centre receive more than 7000 patients suffering of eczema, psoriasis, sequelae of cancer treatments, surgery scares and buccal issues.
Entirely dedicated to skin care, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Centre is made up of four complementary establishments: the Thermes du Connétable (thermal cure), the Spa Source (well-being and dermatology), the Pavillon Rose (complementary care) and the Pavillon des Sources (dermatological shop and experiential area). These establishments are all located in the thermal park, a protected natural area which allows the capture of rainwater which will then become thermal water after a slow percolation in the ground.
La Roche-Posay has been pioneering dermatology since its creation in 1975, working in close partnership with dermatologists. The brand conducted more than 600 clinical studies on 90,000 patients, from newborns to 104-year-olds, of different ethnicities and varied skin pathologies (acne, allergic skin, eczema, under cancer treatment, wounds, post-aesthetic treatment, etc.) to create a range of skincare items that act as therapies on the skin.
Beyond its products, La Roche-Posay aims to make dermatology accessible to people through health tech. In 2016, the brand launched the first stretchable skin sensor to monitor UV exposure. In 2019, La Roche-Posay launched Effaclar Spotscan, the first web app co-developed by dermatologists and based on artificial intelligence to analyse acne-prone skin and provide personalized advice and recommendations.
